For that price I will just import stuff into Finale and work with it there. I don't really want to drop $300 on this. In researching the lowest note playable on a Bassoon, I discovered that there is a Contrabass Saxophone, which is a bit mind-boggling. If you look in the archive of the soon-to-be 'old' Notion Music FORUM, recently there was a lengthy discussion regarding the lowest available sampled note for a Bassoon, which included an energetic foray into determining whether paper rolls were available as do-it-yourself 'bass extenders' prior to the dawn of the 19th century and there was a debate for a while regarding whether it was possible to play such deep bass notes on a Bassoon (It is, and Wagner composed for it). There is a lot more to NOTION than one might expect, and nearly none of it is documented in the NOTION User Guide, because (a) it is advanced and (b) the general presumption is that the people who use NOTION typically have advanced knowledge, even though at least initially this nearly never is the case. Most of the folks who have been using NOTION for a long time will read 'collection of sound samples' as referring specifically to sampled sound libraries, although as explained later ( see below), 'samples' can refer to audio clips so the answer to your question really depends on the way you are using the term 'samples', as well as the format of the 'samples'. You can import audio clips into NOTION and Studio One, but it tends to be easier to work with sampled sound libraries via a VSTi virtual instrument engine.

I have a collection of sound samples for marching percussion instruments, I just know of no way to use them within Notion. The only issue is that Notion has nothing for marching percussion, which is something I used to use a lot.
